About Proency

History of Proency began in September 2017, when Sigrún Þóra worked as a psychologist for the police in Iceland and developed a course and manual on mental health promotion for police personnel.

In the fall of 2017, Stefnir was studying system analysis at KTH in Stockholm. Through Sigrún Thóra’s psychological work, Stefnir gained insight into psychological assessment and ideas on how to significantly improve the process with the use of artificial intelligence. Then the idea was born to develop psychological assessments in the form of artificial intelligence and subsequently combining it with methods and means of mental health promotion.

Proency was formally established in October 2018 and at the same time the company’s goals became clear: To assess and improve the mental well-being of employees of companies and organizations. Thus preventing stress, burnouts and other psychological disorders, as well as increasing the well-being and productivity of the staff.

In the summer of 2019, Proency was one of 10 companies that were selected to take part in the accelerator Startup Reykjavík.

Why?

It is our vision that everyone has the same opportunity to experience mental well-being. 

We can get closer to that wish by providing an accessible and easy way for people to assess and improve their mental well-being. Because our goal is to give everyone the opportunity to 1) Be aware of their mental health and 2) Be able to affect their own mental well-being.
